God of War Ragnarok: How many mythologies appear in the franchise? The answer may surprise

When God of War 2018 was announced, fans had a big surprise to see that Rates would enter Nordic mythology, and from then on many theories began to emerge. Not only that, we had an official Rates comic in Egypt that precedes God of War Ragnarök. But did you know that other mythologies appeared throughout the franchise?

We at MGG azil have separated all the mythologies that have already appeared in the games. For example, did you know that Nordic mythology appeared long before the 2018 game? Check out everything below.

What mythologies were confirmed in God of War?

  • Greek mythology
  • Norse mythology
  • Arab mythology
  • Japanese mythology
  • Celtic mythology
  • Egyptian mythology

Greek mythology-the first of Rates

Obviously Greek mythology was the first in the God of War franchise, in which Rates deals with the Olympic pantheon. In all there were six titles based on this world, being God of War 1,2 and 3, as well as Chains of Olympus, Ghost of Sparta and Ascension.

That's

Rates deals with Zeus, his father and (almost) all the other gods of this mythology in an unstoppable revenge. After that, he enters a state of escape and arrives in...

Egyptian-confirmed mythology in the comic book

Rates begins to escape his past, but this seems to be increasingly impossible. The god of war then begins to wander and wander until reaching unknown lands, which we soon realize it is Egypt.

Here, Rates meets Both, the Egyptian god of wisdom, besides dealing with giant beasts and being considered a great hero. After your time here, we don't know exactly, but he finds the...

NORDIC BIOLOGY The beginning of the Journey of Atreus

From here begins the journey of Rates and Atreus in Nordic mythology, dealing with Odin, Thor, Freya and a whole new pantheon. It all ends in God of War Ragnarök, but there is still more to come, as the games made it clear that there are other worlds.

In addition, the end of the game shows that Rates will return to Egypt and this is just a matter of time. We don't know if the next title will really be in this mythology, but surely this will happen at some point.

Arab mythology

Although not something very explicit, the game God of War: Chains of Olympus has a skill called Free, a name we know more like Fit.

This is a jinn (or jinn) a creature of Arab mythology that is associated with elements and also with the power to fulfill desires. Summoning it here is a clear allusion that mythology exists in the universe of God of War.

Celtic and Japanese mythology

This Easter egg in God of War made fans marvel. You can see four symbols of four different mythologies on the mural. This does not mean that we will have games in all these worlds, but they coexist.

The first symbol, on the upper left side is the eye of Osiris, which represents Egyptian mythology, at the time was a surprise, but with the release of HQ Fallen God, it was a confirmation. The second symbol on the top right is Greek mythology, which we already know and is frequent in the franchise games.

And that's where the thing gets interesting, because the third symbol, in the lower left is called Tome and is part of Japanese mythology. And the last symbol is the Celtic spiral (obviously Celtic mythology).

Nordic mythology in God of War 2

At one point in history, Rates kills Kraken, but only one detail... The creature is from Nordic mythology. The marine monster of Greek mythology is called Veto, and he is the one who killed Andromeda in his sacrifice.

The creature somehow managed to reach the Greek pantheon, which is a surprise. Perhaps the developers simply didn't worry at the time.
